Southfield, MI - March 10, 2008
The Dow Chemical Company has officially announced that it will return to sponsor the 2008 Bike MS fundraiser on behalf of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan Chapter. Not stopping there, Dow is also active in the Walk MS program and will serve as the Midland site sponsor this year.
"Dow is proud to be the presenting sponsor of Bike MS - Great Lakes Breakaway Ride 2008," said David Kepler, Dow Executive Vice President. "This is our way of showing support for the efforts of our employees, family and friends, who have supported this effort since 1999. We have the million-dollar mark in our sights, and we are determined to reach it this year."
Dow employees have formed several teams across the country for Bike MS and Walk MS, who aggressively compete with each other, all in the name of fighting an insidious disease: multiple sclerosis.
“Dow has always believed in the importance of investing in the community, and we feel we do that the best when we support the local efforts of our employees who already generously give of their time and talents,” says Jennifer Heronema, Dow’s External Communications Manager. “At Dow we call that the power of the Human Element. I have no doubt that we can achieve our $1 million goal, if we put our minds, hearts and, yes, our legs into the effort.”
On March 18, Dow will host a “Community Kickoff” in Midland at “The H”, formerly Ashman Court Hotel. From 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Dow team captains, vendors and the National MS Society Michigan Chapter President, Elana Sullivan, will be on hand to energize the rally.
MS stops people from moving. The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn’t. We help each person address the challenges of living with MS through our 50 state network of chapters. We fund more MS research, provide more services to people with MS, offer more professional education and further more advocacy than any other MS organization in the world. The Society is dedicated to achieving a world free of MS. We are people who want to do something about MS now. Join the movement at www.nationalMSsociety.org/mig.
