Dow, Saginaw Habitat Announce Neighborhood Revitalization Project

Midland, MI - June 11, 2008

The Dow Chemical Company and Saginaw Habitat for Humanity announced plans for a Neighborhood Revitalization Project that will take place July 25 through August 1 in Saginaw. With the help of hundreds of Dow employees and local volunteers, the project team has committed to restoring approximately 40 aging homes in a 15-block neighborhood near Covenant Healthcare.

“This project is an excellent local example of Dow’s commitment to sustainability,” says David Dupre, Vice President of Dow’s Michigan Operations manufacturing site. “Another good example is our sponsorship of the nation’s largest community involvement program – Keep America Beautiful. We also contributed $5,000 (and a number of volunteers) to the Keep Saginaw Beautiful Weekend Clean Up that took place a few weeks ago.”

“Habitat is pleased to have Dow as a partner in the Neighborhood Revitalization Project,” says Paul Scovill, Board President, Saginaw Habitat for Humanity. “We are pleased to be able to improve the neighborhood and provide decent housing to local residents.”

Many homeowners already have worked endless hours to improve their homes and make a difference in their neighborhood. The goal of this project is to help those homeowners put on the finishing touches and encourage other homeowners to get involved.

Dow’s relationship with Habitat began in the early 1980s. Since then, Dow has contributed millions in financial and product support. Thousands of our employees have volunteered their time to help with local builds and other Habitat activities over the past 25-plus years.
