Houston Operations – LaPorte Receives Proclamation for Hurricane Ike Efforts

Alton E. Porter, Mayor of the city of LaPorte, has proclaimed October 13 "Dow Chemical Company Day" for the site’s Hurricane Ike response and recovery efforts.

"This is a tremendous honor for our site and our company," said Todd Brown, site leader for LaPorte. "The initiative and actions of these employees reflect our commitment to the safety of not only our site but of our community in the face of Hurricane Ike."

Dow’s LaPorte facility donated a generator to the city for a hurricane ride out shelter in preparation for the hurricane. Employees and emergency responders also lent their time and expertise to assist city staff in preparing the essential ride out shelter for industrial and city first responders located at Baker Junior High School.
