Dow Coatings, part of the Advanced Materials Division of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW) and the premier supplier of paint and coatings solutions, has launched a new environmentally advanced, high performance elastomeric wall coating for the Asia-Pacfic region - Elastene™ 2468. This next generation 100% acrylic polymer, used on exterior walls, is free of alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEOs) and does not have added formaldehyde or formaldehyde generators, providing a sustainable solution for elastomeric wall coatings.
During seasonal changes in weather, cementitious exterior walls expand and contract, which can cause devastating cracks to a building's surface. These cracks are not only impossible to recoat with ordinary coatings but, over time, the cracking will worsen, allowing water penetration and infiltration of carbon dioxide. This can lead to severe corrosion, and, potentially, major damage to interior walls. With its new innovative UV cross-linking technology, Elastene™ 2468 gives formulated coatings an outstanding balance of mechanical properties (elongation and tensile strength). This enables coatings to maintain flexibility at low temperatures and allows for extended coverage time, eliminating existing cracks and preventing new cracks from appearing on exterior walls.
Elastene™ 2468 also offers formulated coatings excellent long-term dirt pick-up resistance, color retention, chalking resistance and UV stability. It is an innovative next generation high-performance elastomeric wall coatings that is meeting current and future environmental demands.
