Minneapolis - June 16, 2009
Dow Water & Process Solutions, a division of The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), will introduce its newest ultrafiltration module, the DOW™ Ultrafiltration SFP-2880, in booth #3151 during the America Water Works Association's Annual Conference and Exhibition (ACE'09) at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif., June 14-17, 2009.
The new DOW Ultrafiltration SFP-2880 offers 50 percent more membrane active area while decreasing the required system footprint by 30 percent. The SFP-2880 adds 20 inches of length when compared to the DOW™ Ultrafiltration SFP-2860, but still features the high strength PVDF hollow fibers with a nominal pore size of 0.03µ. The SFP-2880 also allows flexibility in system design by reducing the number of modules, required piping, skid infrastructure, and the size of the compressed air and clean in place systems. In addition, the larger modules produce a smaller waste stream for disposal.
"The SFP-2880 is a high performing and cost-effective treatment solution" said Bob Krueger, commercial manager for Dow Water & Process Solutions in the Americas. "The longer module and greater active membrane area make the SFP-2880 an ideal choice for OEMs and system integrators looking to reduce costs and meet end-user demands for system reliability."
The new ultrafiltration module is made from high strength, hollow fiber membranes with excellent features and benefits, including:
-
0.03µ nominal pore diameter for removal of bacteria, viruses, and particulates including colloids to protect downstream processes, such as reverse osmosis
-
PVDF polymeric hollow fibers for high strength and chemical resistance allows long membrane life
-
Hydrophilic fibers for easy cleaning and wetability that help maintain long term performance
-
Outside-in flow configuration for high tolerance to feed solids that help reduce the need for pretreatment processes
-
U-PVC housing, helping to eliminate the need for costly pressure vessels
Created for larger system designs, the DOW Ultrafiltration SFP-2880 is an ideal choice for a variety of treatment applications such as groundwater, surface water, seawater, industrial wastewaters, and tertiary treatment.
