Dow Declares Force Majeure for Methyl Acrylate

Midland, MI - July 01, 2009

The Dow Chemical Company announced to its customers on June 30, 2009 that it has declared force majeure for methyl acrylate (MA) due to an unexpected disruption in the supply of propylene, a key raw material, to the Company’s MA plant in Cangrejera, Mexico. This force majeure is the result of an unplanned and extended outage of propylene production by Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex).

“We recognize that this is a challenging period for our customers and sincerely appreciate their patience during this difficult time,” said Carol S. Eicher, Global Business Director for Dow Performance Monomers. “We are working hard to correct the situation and to completely restore supply as soon as possible.”
