Dow to Raise Prices of Oxygenated Solvents

Midland - September 03, 2009

In response to the strengthening global demand and the need to compete for volatile and limited raw materials and energy, The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) announced today that it will raise both the list and off-list prices for several products in the Oxygenated Solvents portfolio in North America effective October 1, 2009, or as contracts allow. The price increases range from $0.03 - $0.10 per pound. In a related move, Dow also announced a mid-September off-list increase of $0.05/lb on all grades of Isopropanol.

“The relentless rise and on-going volatility in feedstock remains our most difficult challenge,” says Mark Bassett, global business director, Oxygenated Solvents. “While we are mindful of the impact these higher prices will have on our customers, these price increases are necessary for us to obtain the raw materials required for us to reliably supply our customers.”
